Learn diplomacy by experiencing it.
At ERA, we believe that understanding international affairs goes beyond studying how institutions work. Young people should have the opportunity to step into the role of decision-makers themselves.
Through our Model United Nations initiatives, participants take on the role of diplomats, represent countries, debate international challenges, negotiate with other delegates and work together to develop solutions.
Preparing to Take the Floor
For many participants, an ERA Model United Nations is their first experience with diplomacy, negotiation and formal debate.
That is why the experience begins before the conference itself.
ERA organises preparatory trainings designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of Model United Nations and give them the confidence to participate actively.

During these sessions, participants learn how a MUN works, how to research and represent a country’s position, structure an argument, write position papers and resolutions, negotiate with other delegates and speak confidently during debate.
With guidance from experienced participants and mentors, students have the opportunity to practise these skills before taking their seats as delegates.
From Training to Simulation
Once prepared, the stage belongs to the participants.
Representing different countries and perspectives, delegates are challenged to think beyond their own point of view, defend their positions, respond to unexpected developments and collaborate to find common ground.
In the process, they develop skills from public speaking and critical thinking to negotiation, research, teamwork and leadership.
Diplomacy Without Borders
Our online format has allowed young people from different locations and backgrounds to participate in the same room even when that room is virtual.
For ERA, this reflects what international cooperation is ultimately about: bringing together different perspectives, learning to understand them and finding ways to move forward together.
Research. Represent. Negotiate. Lead.
